A quiet stretch of the Normandy coast, painted with Corot's characteristic softness in his final years. A grassy bluff slopes down to an empty beach, tiny figures dot the far shoreline, and a sky of silver-grey cloud drifts over pale water. It's a small, unhurried study of light and weather by one of the most influential landscape painters of the nineteenth century, and a clear forerunner of the Impressionists who followed him to these same beaches.
The panoramic proportions work well above a sofa, bed, or console, and the muted greens, sand, and dove-grey tones bring a calm, restful feel to almost any room.
Reproduced from the original oil painting. Available as an unframed print, framed print, floating canvas, or museum canvas in a range of frame finishes.
