A rose-pink bottle stands tall among interlocking planes of cornflower blue, lavender, and sunny yellow, set against a field of emerald green and warm sand. Valmier, a French Cubist who moved from Picasso-influenced work toward flat, geometric abstraction in the early 1920s, breaks the objects on the table (a bottle, a bowl, a glass) into clean, colored shapes, so the whole picture reads like a jewel-toned collage. It's a lively, optimistic example of Purist-leaning Cubism from the years just after the First World War.
The bright, confident palette works in a modern living room, dining room, or creative workspace, and the horizontal format sits well over a sofa, sideboard, or desk. It pairs easily with mid-century and contemporary furnishings.
Reproduced from the original oil on canvas. Available as an unframed print, framed print, floating canvas, or museum canvas in a range of frame finishes.
